Lipedema treatment
Deep connective tissue massage and lymphatic drainage to help relieve pain and address the tissue structurally.
Lipedema treatment
Lipedema is a connective tissue condition
Lipedema is not ordinary fat accumulation. It is a chronic, hormonally driven condition in which fat accumulates abnormally in the connective tissue — particularly in the legs, hips and buttocks. The tissue develops adhesions, becomes painful and is sensitive to pressure. Dieting and intensive exercise do not change lipedema fat. Targeted manual treatment of the connective tissue and the lymphatic system can support the tissue.
How it works
Why does connective tissue massage support lipedema?
In lipedema, adhesions form in the subcutaneous tissue between fat cells, connective tissue structures and the lymphatic network. This impairs the flow of fluid and increases pressure sensitivity. Deep manual treatment directly addresses these adhesions.
Combined with device-assisted lymphatic drainage, fluid that accumulates in the affected tissue is actively drained. The aim is to reduce pain, reduce swelling, and support the tissue in recovering structurally.
Release adhesions
Deep manual pressure aims to break down the adhesions in lipedema tissue, supporting restored circulation and reduced pressure sensitivity.
Restore circulation
Improved blood circulation brings oxygen and nutrients back to the affected tissue, supporting the recovery process from within.
Drain fluid
Device-assisted lymphatic drainage actively stimulates the removal of fluid and waste products that accumulate in the tissue in lipedema.
The Bodyfix Method
Diagnosis first, then treatment
Lipedema is a complex condition that varies in severity. That is why we always begin with a Bodyreading: a thorough analysis of your connective tissue, complaint pattern and the severity of the lipedema. This allows us to determine which treatment protocol is most suitable for your situation.
A personalised treatment plan follows — a combination of connective tissue massage and lymphatic drainage, tailored to your complaints and goals. Not a standard approach, but a course that takes account of the severity of the lipedema and your tolerance.
Our therapists are trained in the self-developed Bodyfix Method and have a minimum of 2,500 hours of practical experience in treating connective tissue conditions. We have been a specialist treatment institute — not a salon — since 2008.
Results
What can you expect?
Lipedema is a chronic condition — it does not disappear completely. Treatment is aimed at reducing pain, swelling and pressure sensitivity, and at slowing the progression of the condition. We are honest about what is possible.
First sessions
Activation of the connective tissue and lymphatic system. Reduction of the feeling of tension. Circulation improves, tissue becomes more supple.
Visible results
Most clients experience a noticeable reduction in pain and pressure sensitivity. Swelling decreases. The legs feel lighter.
Maintenance & stabilisation
Monthly maintenance sessions help sustain results and slow the progression of lipedema. Regular treatment is essential.
Results depend on the severity, stage and individual response to treatment. After your free consultation we will give you a realistic picture.

Frequently asked questions
Everything about lipedema treatment at Bodyfix
What exactly is lipedema? +
Lipedema is a chronic condition in which fat accumulates abnormally in the connective tissue, primarily in the legs, hips and buttocks. It is accompanied by pain, pressure sensitivity and swelling. Unlike ordinary excess weight, lipedema fat does not disappear through dieting or intensive exercise.
What is the difference between lipedema and lymphoedema? +
Lipedema is a fat disorder: fat accumulates in the connective tissue due to a hormonal or genetic cause. Lymphoedema is a fluid problem: the lymphatic system is impaired, causing fluid to build up in the tissue. The two conditions can occur together (lipo-lymphoedema), which can make treatment more complex.
Can connective tissue massage help with lipedema? +
Connective tissue massage aims to release the adhesions that form in the subcutaneous tissue in lipedema. Combined with lymphatic drainage, fluid build-up and waste products can be removed. It does not address the hormonal cause, but is aimed at reducing pain, pressure sensitivity and the visible extent of the lipedema.
How many treatments are needed for lipedema? +
Lipedema is a chronic condition — it does not disappear completely. Most clients experience improvement after 8–12 treatments. For structural results and maintenance we advise ongoing treatment, with monthly maintenance sessions following an intensive course.
Is the treatment painful for lipedema? +
Lipedema tissue is naturally pressure-sensitive. The treatment is intensive and can feel uncomfortable, particularly during the first sessions. Our therapists adjust the pressure to your tolerance. After the session the skin may feel warm or appear red — this is normal.
Is lipedema treatment covered by health insurance? +
Physiotherapy-based lymphatic drainage for lipedema may in some cases be reimbursed through supplementary health insurance. The connective tissue massage at Bodyfix falls outside standard reimbursement. We advise you to check your reimbursement options with your insurer before starting. This treatment does not replace medical care from your GP or specialist.
How does Bodyfix differ from other lipedema practitioners? +
Bodyfix combines deep manual connective tissue massage with device-assisted lymphatic drainage in a single treatment protocol. We always begin with a Bodyreading — a thorough assessment of your connective tissue and complaints. Our therapists have a minimum of 2,500 hours of practical experience and specialise in treating complex connective tissue conditions.
