Important to be clear about straight away: this is about how your tissue feels, not about a medical effect. For most people it is perfectly fine to fit heat and cold gently into the day. It can be a nice, comfortable ritual that makes your tissue feel a little more supple or fresher for a while. Do build it up gently, do not switch too abruptly between hot and cold, and above all listen to your body. This is general wellbeing advice and not a medical prescription — these are simple things you can do yourself. Remember, too, that heat and cold give a pleasant feeling but do not specifically release the genuinely stuck, stiff tissue.
